ooc: We Need to Talk A.K.A. The oh-so-very-important permissions post!

Kilgrave can control anyone. That's kind of what he's all about and, without that looming over everyone's heads, he doesn't really have that much to offer (except maybe a bit of creepy charm and some witty repartee. And Britishisms. Let's not forget about those). That said, my intention isn't to go around godmodding every single character on Dreamwidth, as much as Kilgrave would love that. So this is more to get your permission than for you to get to know mine, since I'll do pretty much anything to my characters for the sake of my own amusement. I'm a bit like Kilgrave that way. 

So, basically, just let me know! If you're not interested in having Kilgrave influence your character? That's absolutely cool, there are plenty of work arounds for that, nothing that a few well chosen words on his part can't fix. Maybe your character is immune to Kilgrave's influence? That's cool too! Just drop me a note here or, if you prefer, a PM and Kilgrave will be suitably surprised when you tell him to fuck off out of your face.

Of course, if you decide that your character is susceptible to Kilgrave and that it's something you want to see play out to its final conclusion (whatever that may be) but there's a limit as to how far you're prepared to go, please get in touch and let me know and we'll avoid letting them get in too deep. And it goes without saying that, before any command or suggestion is made by Kilgrave, especially if it's their first time meeting, I'll be flooding your inbox with messages to ask what is and what isn't okay. 

Speaking of Kilgrave's powers, he does have his limits. His abilities only work in person (because it's basically a virus that infects the people around him that causes them to be compelled to do as he says) so any other form of communication doesn't work. You also have to close enough for it to affect you and be able to hear what he's telling you to do. There's also a limit to the amount of time Kilgrave's abilities can affect you, which Jessica Jones has calculated to be about ten to twelve hours, give or take. After that, you have to be in direct contact with Kilgrave again for his commands to matter (which an intelligent person would probably avoid). 

TL;DR: Basically, my default position with Kilgrave is that, generally speaking, he won't use his power on your muse. He'll be carefully picking and choosing his words to avoid any slip ups... unless your muse is asking for it :3. In which case, we'll chat and see what works.

OMG first off: I just have to reassure you that so far, you are doing an EXCELLENT job with Kilgrave, here... ;) <333 And second, and possibly more importantly: well... I wanted to think of something Maria could bring up, that he's done that IS sorta bad, but-- not too irredeemably bad, y'know? And then, I thought of the poker game in "AKA: You're a Winner!" SO.... Before I reference that particular incident, since it was pretty much smack in the middle of season 1, well. I just wanted to ensure that that had actually happened already, in your Kilgrave's timeline...? x D<333

As for his timeline, you're more than welcome to reference just about any of the horrible things he's done because, in the end, Kilgrave won't be taking any responsibility for them. The arsehole. I haven't really got him set anywhere too specific, just sometime between his creepy stalking of Jessica to before his capture in the hermetically sealed room, so you're more than welcome to mention the poker game.

That bit with his mother though! That's the part where I started to question my whole world view when it comes to Kilgrave... And then he went and ruined it. He's officially Marvel's creepiest villain, in my opinion.

Oh noes! That really is the worst. *pets* I rarely get sick so I'm pretty sure I'm whining even worse than most people. So I figured, hey, instead of lying in bed wishing I could sleep, I could write some Kilgrave instead! :P

Ooh yes, and I nearly forgot to issue this permission when I first commented here: feel free to do whatever you want to this girl, up to and including killing her (or you know, making her Kill Herself, since that does seem to be his MO, doesn't it? x D<3) I mean, seriously: I am rather attached to this muse but-- well. I've written her death SO MANY times, but-- she's still here! ; )

A tag's on the way! I'm just trying to figure out how it all fits in Kilgrave's world view. He's such a new character for me that I'm not really all that confident that I'm writing him with any real accuracy, tbh. He'll probably interrogate her a little more forcefully, if that's alright? Though I doubt it'll escalate to anything too triggery just yet. (Unless you count general non-con as being triggery which, in Kilgrave's case, is more or less unavoidable. :P)

Oh, I really should've clarified this in his profile. Kilgrave can't actually read minds. He can't change people's memories or otherwise mess with their heads. All he can do is tell them what he wants them to do and they have to do it. It's really that simple.

Also: I DO think that you are still playing Kilgrave AWESOMELY! :D <333 And as for the Mind-Reading thing, no big deal, really! I know that he never demonstrated any actual mind reading abilities in the MCU canon he's been involved in (I was going to say "yet" but of course, poor boy's dead now, so... Yeah... =P) , but nevertheless: I do seem to remember he was able to read minds sometime in the comics, and I know that some people like to mix the canons.... But again, no big deal! =D <333 Even better, really, since I don't have to worry about any Comic Canon sneaking up on me, you know? x D
